I've had a busy last few days. Saturday, the TKD tournament, I received last place in sparring. It's what I expected, though all the rounds were close. The other ladies gave me four nice hard kicks to the head, which weren't fun, but I doled out a few myself, which were. Besides, I made a new friend - Mel, an awesome 50-year-old 2nd dan black belt who could pass for 35. She won our sparring division, which made me glad.

The best part of the tournament was feeling myself actually a part of the TKD world, able to act as an individual, by myself, in the adult world. I went to the tournament on my own volition, and I was the only one of my family there. It felt odd, but good.

In the evening, I took the sibs contra dancing. I gotta say, I was exhausted! We left half an hour before the dancing was done, but I made a new friend, Dan, with whom I argued for about an hour over origins and creation vs. evolution. This led me to think that I should start researching woolly mammoths. :D (You had to be there to understand.) So I now have a new file on mammoths in my file box, with a chunk of about ten documents inside. I shall have to write up my research soon.

Sunday was nice and restful, as always, but Monday the sibs had a swim meet in the evening, and they needed their team swimsuits first. So I was commissioned to drive them to the sports store, which is on a rather busy street. I combined this with several other errands in widely-separate places, such as finally picking up my contact lenses (yay, no more four-eyes!). The trip took the whole afternoon, in 100-degree heat. Then I watched the swim meet for four hours, in more of the same. This was sufficient to give even me a slight sunburn, and I _never_ burn! By the next day it had turned nicely brown, though. :D

Tuesday night was Civil Air Patrol. I am finally moving up to senior member, and I appreciate the greater freedom this allows. I can help cadets, or I can talk in the senior-member room. :D Still, it takes three hours out of the evening.

As one of my friends said, I'm "on a summer schedule." That is, I'm doing everything, and not completely. I am creating two websites, at www.erthe.net and www.rivercitycap.com. The first is my personal site, which will include info about my writings and diffusionist studies. Basically, it will contain my creative self, if that is possible. :) The second is for my Civil Air Patrol squadron. I'm also writing things, reading books for study, learning German (ya, still!), going to Tae Kwon Do class and CAP meetings, and working. I'm busy, and I feel myself spreading thin.

Strangely, however, I feel much more peaceful now than I did a few weeks ago. I'm settling into this routine, and the days are shooting past. Already we're 11 days into June; it seems like only this past Monday it was the 1st. Before I know it it will be July, then August, and then I'll be back at school again.

I am finding it difficult to adjust to doing things for other people. This is the good thing about home - one is expected to do chores and run errands, not to plan all one's days for oneself. This builds character. :) Take now. I could write more, but I have to go grocery shopping. So I'll end by saying that I have a Tae Kwon Do tournament tomorrow, for which I have not prepared to my full potential. And my knees ache. Life goes on. :)

Why blog? Everyone's doing it. Normally that would be enough to keep me far, far away, but the concept is too cool. Spread your personal thoughts to the world - far better than talking, because you can say anything, and you don't need the courage to look someone in the eye. So, with these reasons in mind, I have embarked. Enjoy, or not, as the case may be. I know I will.
